Yay for summer!! It is here again, and we couldn't have been more ready for it! See how excited we are??!!

Ready for fun in the sun! |
For those that know me, you know I love organization and planning. So, last week I got out my calendar so that I could begin planning our events for the summer. (For those who know me, you know that I am irritated by the fact that summer had already begun by the time I sat down to do this...but alas, I had been too busy!) The first thing I did was go to the Wilson County Schools calendar so that I could add the next school year's dates in; and guess what?? For the first time in eight years, I got to put the first school day down for August, not July! I cannot believe I will have a kindergartener in less than two months! So, we plan to make the best of this summer!
So, besides doing some cleaning, meeting family and friends for lunches, going to the $1 movie to see Happy Feet 2, and spending some time at the pool, here are some things we've done to get our summer off to a great start!
We had our last soccer game of the season! And we won! And received our medals, of course. |
Last week we ventured out to Cheekwood to see the Treehouses Exhibit. I think the kiddos enjoyed the drive through Belle Meade just as much as the treehouses! Okay, maybe not quite as much. If you live in the Nashville area and haven't been, you need to go! It was great! Each "treehouse" is based on a work of literature. Here are some pictures of the exhibits.

Our day out with Nana to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens |
The Treehouse based on Walden |
Conch House, based on Lord of the Flies |
The Jolly Roger, based on Peter and Wendy |
The Rainbow Fish, based on (you guessed it) The Rainbow Fish |
The Giver, based on The Giver |
Up & Down Again, based on The Hobbit |
Ocean of Notions, based on Haroun & the Sea of Stories |
Seriously, even Liam had a great time! |
Last Friday, Justin took off to spend the day with us at the zoo. We have season passes and go pretty often, but we hadn't yet been on the DinoTrek, so we had promised Chan we would do that. He wasn't too thrilled about getting up close and personal with the realistic looking and very large dinos, though.
As close as he would get, and clearly he wasn't happy about it. |
Though he wasn't nearly as scared when he had his mask on. |
It's all fun and games until somebody loses a head! |
Saturday was Justin's birthday, so we celebrated that day with a party and Chan even helped make the cake.
Closely monitored by Mommy, of course |
While I spent time cleaning, organizing, and decluttering, Chan decided he was a fan of jigsaw puzzles.
All by himself! |
And we even had our first motorbike ride with Papa!!
But just to the end of the driveway :) |
And, with all this running around and keeping busy, we had some time for rest, too.
All tuckered out! |
So, so excited to spend the rest of the summer making memories with my sweet boys! But perhaps next week, we will be a little less on the go...I am exhausted! Stay tuned!
"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time."
~John Lubbock~
Till next week friends!
Brittany :)
